Bound's hubby here:

Actually, the best cure for "buck fever" is to take your first deer. As I knew it, buck fever is more the anticipation of hunting and getting your first deer, and for some, the anxiousness to shoot at anything that might look or sound like a deer. Remember to exercise self restraint for safety's sake, and to have respect for the game you are about to take!

Good luck and good hunting!

BUCK FEVER HAPPENS TO EVRYONE IN VARYING DEGREES
DEER, ELK, EVEN DUCKS CAN CAUSE ANTICIPATION
IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY YOU HAVE TAKEN
WHAT HELPS IS TO PUT YOURSELF IN A POSITION TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE EXCITEMENT OF THE HUNT
THE XCITEMENT OF SEEING THE GAME ANIMAL COMING OR STANDING THERE AS YOUR HEART POUNDS
YOUR BLOOD RACES
YOU WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL BUT YOU ARE BLIND STUPID WITH WANTING TO PULL THE TRIGGER
SO U DO..... AND LAUNCH A SLUG INTO THE NEXT COUNTY
THEN SIT THERE FEELING STUPID AND ASHAMED , HAVING RUINED THE ENTIRE YEAR'S ANTICIPATION
THE ENTIRE DAY OF STALKING AND TRACKING
AND NOW YOU GO HOME AND HAVE TO MAKE EXCUSES FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL YOUR HOUSE BOUND FRIENDS
SUCKS DON'T IT ?
WHAT WORKS BEST IS JUST TO CALM DOWN AND REALIZE THAT THERRE CAN BE TWO OUTCOMES
1) U LOSE
2) U WIN
THE DIFFERENCE IS TO REMAIN CALM AND DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

BUT HOW DO YOU DO THAT ?
BY DOING IT OVER AND OVER UNTIL U ARE COMPETENT
MY SUGGESTION IS TO GET A CALL AND LEARN HOW TO HUNT COYOTES OR FOX IN YOUR AREA
THERE IS NOTHING MORE EXCITING THAT U CAN DO
AND IF YOU FREEZE OR MISS YOU WILL LEARN MUCH ABOUT CONTROL
BY THE TIME DEER SEASON COMES AROUND AGAIN YOU WILL HAVE THE CONTROL YOU WISH

Some people never do. What I did is to put the term "buck" out of mind. To me, they are all just deer. I find that if I regard them all under that word when I see a buck I don't get excited. Bucks hardly excite me anyway. Does are better eating.

If you know it is a shooter buck coming DONT look at the rack concentrate on the shot you want to make on him to make a clean kill.

It is just another form of getting over excited. Try to relax and take deep breaths in threw the nose and exhale thru your mouth!

* particular in simple terms p.c.. out a gap on the Deer ideally focus and concentration on the front shoulder, & the heart & lung section then Breathe, loosen up, purpose, Squeeze, and fire.* large greenback Down.*.. do no longer look, or focus on the Deers Rack, or Horns.*.. happy looking.*

don't look at the rack, pick out a hair behind its shoulder when you aim. Don't rush, wait for a good shot. It will come or it isn't a good safe shot.
