Whenever I try to install new programs or applications on my PC (Using Windows XP), I get a message saying "corrupted installer".
Any ideas what's wrong? (and don't say - "Go buy a Mac").

Please give some more details like if its service pact 1,1a or 2. Also was your computer formated recently or It had a OS recovery run on it. Please let us know what are the applications you were trying to install.

1. Try this unregistering & reregistering Windows installer :
To do this, follow these steps:

a. On the "Start" menu, click "Run:.
b. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
c. On the "Start" menu, click "Run".
d. In the "Open" box, type "msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

2. goto microsoft .com & download & install the windows installer 3.1

a. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer, and then browse to the following Microsoft Web site:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads
b. In the left pane tree menu, click "Setup and System Administration", and then click "Setup".
c. Click "Windows Installer", and then click the appropriate link for your operating system.
d. Click "Download" to download and install Windows Installer

If its something related to installer logs than we can clean it up using msicuu2.exe ( thats microsoft installer cleanup utility )

i would never say go buy a MAC they have to many problems and i like windows based computers best.

try installing it with the commmand prompt

I would say go buy a Mac. Windows is trash.

try to download, and install Windows Installer 3.1
