I had a baby a little over a year ago and when I gave birth I weighed over 200 pounds due to preclampsia and toxemia. Now I am trying to get back to the 135 I weighed when I got pregnant. I weigh about 150 now and wear a size 8. I start losing weight and then the weight loss stops. I have a dinner planned in 3 weeks and would like to be thin for it. I recently moved, and my eating lifestyle took a turn for the worst. I am 5'3 and feel like I look like a cow, espcially when I see other women with babies and they look great. Before I got pregnant I was a recovering anorexic so my family thinks I look fine, but I want to be thin again. I need some suggestions on how to lose like 20 pounds, fast. Please help!!

Okay, forget about that "thin for dinner in 3 weeks" thing. The safe way to lose weight is to lose 1-2 pounds a week.

Quite frankly, I'd rather have you be a happy, healthy 150 than to be an anorexic 135 pound person. Being happy and healthy (and slightly mischevious, sexually demanding and creative in bed) are very attractive, much more so than you'd have if you were sick and 15 pounds lighter.

Finally, if you're a size 8 at 150, that means that you might have a higher level of muscle than you did at 135. Fat is fluffy and one pound takes up a lot of space, while muscle is dense and a pound takes up a lot less space. What you want to look for is losing inches and body fat, which may not translate into losing pounds.

In fact, I'll say that your previous weight cut into your body muscle, which is definitely unhealthy. You probably have a lot more muscle now, and that is very healthy... and very sexy.

I am in the same boat. I have 2 kids though and before my second one came I was 130 and I looked good now I am 158 and would like to lose 23 pounds. I know what I need to do but I have more responsibilities now, 2 kids and I go to school and I also work full time so I don't have alot of time to hit a gym. I'm 34 years old so I know that losing the weight may be a little harder but I have to find the time to work out and eat right.

Good luck you can do it....... No WE can do it.

Good luck.

Hi there from Australia,
I had a bit of trouble converting pounds to Kilograms which we use here in Oz, but it works out (aproxamently) you currenlty weigh 75kg. WHICH IS GREAT! you weigh less than me!
I currenltly weigh 87kg (174pounds), size 16 - 18 (your size 6 - 8). I was 95 kg (190pounds)
I was bulmic in early teen years and have had 2 children.
Some things that I have found to be workable and not unobtainable are -
-cutting out margarine/ butter on toast and sandwhiches (but I do give myself a once a week treat of having some on toast)
-have fruit, veg, nuts, low fat yoghurt and low GI snacks on hands so I don't eat biscuits and cakes etc.
-have 100% fruit juice or water instead of softdrink (carbonated flavoured drinks)
- have low fat or no fat milk in coffee/ tea
- have a big bowl of low GI breakfast cereal with low fat or no fat milk. This fills me up to lunch time.
- When I eat, it is slowly. I take one bite and savour the taste and texture of it. Then do the same with the rest of the meal. I have found that by doing this I eat a lot less as I am not gobbling my food down.
Regarding exercise
- I do pilates 2 - 3 times a week
- walk for 30 minutes 2 times a week

Often after having a baby (I've had 2), the way we view ourselves is often distorted. After my 2nd baby I weighed 72kg (i'm 5'4) (72kg =aprox144pounds). Iwas a size 12 - 14 (size 2-4).
but I thought I was HUGE. I would look at other mums and think how great they looked while I felt I looked like a bloated wale.
Stragley enough when I said to one of them how great they looked and how fat I was, she shocked me by telling me how great I looked and how fat she felt she was!!! Over the past few years as I have become more happy with me as a person I have become to accept my size and am happy being me

You used to weigh 135 and now you weigh 150. That's only 15 pounds. It's no sin ? .. If you eat right and excersise some everyday .. you will lose a little .. but you really are not that much from your goal weight right now. Don't be so hard on yourself. You already lost 50 pounds !! Good Luck to you ! :)

Congrats on the baby and the weight loss.
Try running 2 miles a day, 6 days per week.
You will feel better about yourself.
Hopefully your husband will give you the time(45 min) a day to do this.
Buy a great pair of running shoes.
Buy clothes that keep you cool while working out.
Good Luck

Loosing the weight fast is not the answer. You will be beckoning the anorexia all over again.
You would need to consult with a fitness nutritionist, who will analyze your body and prescribe the right combination of foods, for you to loose optimum weight for you height.
Also you will have to incorporate exercise into your daily routine.
Lots of cardio and weight training.
These services are available at your local gym.

135lbs IS thin, too thin! a size 8 is tiny, a perfectly normal size for a woman with a 1 year old, what you need is to accept yourself for who you are not compare yourself to other women. you will never measure up if you do that, as you will find other women to compare yourself to every time you think you have reached your goal.

my daughter is 4 inches shorter than you, and she is also a size 8, she has an 8 month old baby, and like you was over 200lbs during pregnancy as she had to take steroids to help deal with a blood clotting problem in pregnancy.

Love yourself for who you are, not beat yourself up because you can't be what you imagine others to be, they are not nicer or better than you, they are just different, I have no doubt your family are right and that you look fine, and probably very beautiful too. Just smile and be your best self.

Try working out Like Tae Bo or something strenuous in the MORNING it evens out your eating habits during the day and also burns what you do eat. Also try cutting out as much sugar from your diet as possible it just feeds the fat and yeast in the body. I would suggest Splinda as an alternative. It tastes almost like real sugar, but doesn't hurt your figure. and diet soda too if you drink soda. It may not seem like much but Ive lost 70 lbs in 6 months from Tae bo and less sugar. It realy works

Its called a stairmaster. Work your way up to an hour a day 5 times a week (I prefer weekends off).

Also drink lots of water.

Cut out sodas (reg or diet) and fat.

No fast food.

Eat a low fat diet.

And NO STARBUCKS unless its just regular coffee.
