Just wondering what you are planning for the holiday... celebrate with others? If you're a sloitary... at home? out-doors? Any special traditions?

I'm thinking of celebrating alone this year in a local wooded area where I've spent time before, getting close to the Goddess. I'll bring a portable altar I have, incense etc, and my own cake and ale (or grape juice). I used to make Pumpkin Cheesecake for this time of year, for a group I celebrated with, but it's 30 miles away, and I've been unable to drive. So I'm celebrating alone this year.

Not sure yet--a lot depends on how the rest of the day goes (I'm hoping to spend a good portion of it with the significant other, who is quite sick, so that may or may not happen...) There will be a bonfire, that much is certain.

Our group is doing our annual Rite to Eurynomous, Baalberith, and Babael. I have a friend coming in from out of town. We'll likely take our yearly trip to hit all the metaphysical stores to stock up on yearly supplies as needed. We'll socialize, eat, have an enjoyable rite, and erect our altar to honor our anscestors and loved ones. Plus - I'll be doing a radio broadcast with my co-author on a book we're writing that will be released next year. So it's going to be a great weekend overall. Then, the weekend after that I'll be attending a friend's Day of the Dead party where she'll have good food, lots of wonderful people, and a bonfire.

I am eclectic pagan (solitary by practice), but I absolutly plan to celebrate Samhain with others. I have a party/ritual planned with some of my closest pagan friends. I plan to have it outdoors with a well stoaked bonfire (Woods: Oak, Ash, Beach, Maple, and Pine), warm mulled cider, and many blankets (it will prolly be around freezing after nightfall).
I am also making homemade bread and stew for the gathering.

This Samhain will be particularly important to me, as I will be bidding my Aunt Cecila (passed on October 14, 2006) farwell with a small personal ritual *sniff~tears up~ I hate having to say goodbye*.

I wish you a warm and blessed Samhain.

Well after the kiddies are done with the trick or treating, we're going to have a 'silent dinner' - set places for those who have passed in honor and memory, spend time thinking about that and the season. Then a bonfire ritual cleansing the old and making new years resolutions :)

My family will probably go to the Wayside ( its a big park on the river with just a bunch of trails) for part of the day, then we are taking my son and brother trick or treating, and if it isn't to cold we may have a bon fire in our back yard with seasonal foods and pagan friends. Nothing to elaborate, (anything with a two year old and a six year old ends up being somewhat elaborate lol) but just be close to nature.

Oct 31st I have a Tarot party for Witchy Friends of mine. The actual date of Samhain, I have group ritual with the Coven, and a feast afterwards.

hey, Fiveshift, You really don't need to be experience to have ritual. You can't get experience if you don't start. :)

If you like I can send you some small things you can do to celebrate Samhain, if you're nervous.

blessed be!

I'm gonna buy this samhain kit from this pawnshop I go to, and celebrate it in solitary, then I'm going to a small halloween party with my friends, 10 ppl max, there will be cake and punch so I think it will work out perfectly!

that sounds like a beautiful ritual; i'm going to be on a business trip, so it looks like it might be incense in the hotel room, maybe some cake---but we can all be close to the goddess no matter where we are, that the nice part...i'll remember this conversation when i meditate that night...

I'll probably just celebrate Halloween with my non-Pagan friends. I'm not experienced enough to do ritual on my own.
