No. There may be some frozen natural gas deposits under the ocean in the area, though. When those heat up and the bubbles surface, they can change the ability of the water to float ships (i.e. they sink) and cause severe atmospheric disturbances (i.e. planes crash). Haunting is an unlikely explanation.

i saw on a science show they are starting to go down and see the wreckage. They blamed it on gas bubbles and did random test to show how it would affect a ship and make it sink if it hit it right..i don't know what the name of it was but it was interesting..

Something like that, there are phenomenon, sort of, like a cracked underground, where things or ships are sucked in
due to unexplainable.... believed one of the causes, why ships were missing!
