Trust Grandma. Could he visit a bit at Grandma's , even before you leave? He'd be more accustomed to the place, then. Your boy "will" miss you. He'll sleep for 1/2 the time, so he won't be looking for you all day. (Never heard of a cat with insomnia.) Leave HIS stuff: dish, bed, blankie, etc. AND a couple of things YOU've worn like a sweatshirt or a pair of your shoes. Once you are back, he won't blame you for anything. (Never heard of a cat laying guilt on someone.) He'll be fine. Each time you have to be apart, You'll always be in worse shape than him. He'll be as happy to be re-united as You are. Enjoy your trip; It will be purrfect!

don't worry. my family went to disney land and left our two cats in the care of my grandma. first, make sure you leave enough food for him for the two week span and tell your gradma to make sure that he has fresh water and enough food each day. also, if you have any cat toys leave them there too. my kitten just loves her toys! second, he won't think you just left him. and trust me when he sees you when you come back he'll never love to see you more then he does then!
just relax and have a good time, your cat will learn that he may be left, but you'll always come back for him.
have fun!

He will probably be mad at you for a bit but he will get over it. I don't know what to tell you to not be worried except that your Grandma will more than likely take really good care of him. How old is he? Is he too young to stay at home by himself? I was wondering because if he is older then leaving him home where he is used to might be better and will not cause him as much stress as taking him to your Grandmother's. Just a thought. Hope it all goes well.

Cats are very adaptable creatures. I'm sure he won't be a problem for your grandma. He'll probably sleep most of the time. As for him being mad that you left him, I think he will be very happy to see you when you pick him up. Nothing to worry about...people leave their pets alone every now and then when they go on vacations....just don't worry and enjoy your trip!!

Anyone who is rude to you because you care about your cat is not a very nice person, in my opinion. I understand your anxiety - my 3 kittens are my babies, too, and I'm sure loads of others here can relate to your question.
I think that july4bb gave some excellent advice - try to enjoy your holiday. Don't forget that cats are by nature very independent. it is definitely a good idea to leave something that has your 'scent' on it - a favourite item of clothing, maybe. Does your kitty have one of those cat beds, or any favourite toys, that you could leave with him? It helps to maintain his routine, if your gran can feed him at the usual time, etc.

I love my kitties, too. I wouldn't worry since you're only going to be gone for a day. Any time you put a cat in a new place...he or she WILL be skittish, just because it's unfamiliar territory. Bring something that smells like you (i.e. shirt, blanket) so your kitty can sleep on it. Put his/her food and water near him so he/she doesn't stress about finding it. Also, put the litter box near by...but not too close to the food. They say cats don't like that. Make sure he's in a quiet area at your grandma's....away from heavy traffic. It's very likely he/she will find underneath a bed and stay there for the entire time. Your cat will be JUST fine. Maybe bring some toys, I doubt it'll play, but maybe it'll feel more at home. Have fun on your trip!

Ok. I have had this happen to me. Just take the litter box, same food bowls and water bowls, toys, a nice comfy bed, and anything else he might need. Leave a list of things to do. Be sure before you leave just to give him a lot of attention. Make sure your Grandma gives him a lot of attention too. If you do all that then he should be fine. Also leave a list of phone numbers in case your Grandma has any questions.

Dont worry, I used to be like that with my kitty. Leave him all his toys and set them up like they are at home. Teach your grandma how to play with him. He's not going to think you just left him. Cats are extremely smart animals, he'll probobly enjoy exploring the new territiory. Now you need to focus on your self. Think about your boyfriend and about Disney World and think how much fun your grandmas gonna have with him. You're probobly making your grandma very happy. Be brave. I couldn't see my cats for two months when we were moving AGAIN. So just focus on the ride's. Also make sure you go on the Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. It's rad!!

IF at all possible, get someone to come to your house. in my experience cats don't travel to new places very well, they like the familiar. but if going to grandma's is the only solution you don't have to bring EVERYTHING he has, just a litter box, a few of his toys, including one grandma can play with him like something on a stick she can wave around, and his favourite blankie or a sweater of yours he like to sleep on.
keep in mind that he still maybe still a little stressed for a day or 2 when you return. A way to keep him more calm during all this is to get 'rescue remedy'.you can get it were you get essential oils. it will naturally relax him a bit.
this could be a good trail run for the both of you. only a few more day trips and he'll be comfortable at grandma's
