I have very bad knee pain in my left knee. I've been to the doctor's and had x-rays and all that stuff and about 2 years ago was in physical tharapey for about 6 months and then the physical therapeist said i didn't have to come anymore. Now the pain is coming back. It's to right of my knee cap and behind also. It also looks like my knee may be swolen.

I would use the ice heat treatment. Ice it for twenty minutes. Then use heat and alternate. But do not do this for more then 2 hours. This might give you some relief. It may also be athritis starting in your knee. So you might want to go get it checked again. There are some medications for arthritis, but they do have some side effects. I hope this helped and good luck to you.

If the knee is swollen I would say dont try to self medicate, go back to your doctor and get professional advice again.
Use warm compresses over the knee and try rubbing in some pain killing gel to take the edge off the pain. Dont strain the knee or do violent exercise and elevate your leg when you are resting. These might be a temporary help, but please see the doc soon.

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain.
