because no one likes to be wrong. Every religion has some truth in it and some false, and it is not that easy to face the fact that some of the things we believe in might be wrong.

It all circles around FAITH. I'm a christian and very into my faith. I'll admit I have doubts but I also have faith that God is there and he loves me. I could be wrong but until the rapture happens and the tribulation I will not know for sure. Even if I was wrong I lived a good, loving life. There are so many different views but the one thing that does matter is most of them believe there is a god who looks after us. My belief is as long as you believe in God and have asked him to forgive you of your sins and to live in you then you will go to heaven. You dont have to do good works to get into heaven. The main thing is believing in him. I try not to lie and I dont swear or steal because that is what God has commanded. I'm not going to worry about what parts of my faith are wrong or what parts are right. For now I'll just have faith and continue to follow him.

Because there are so many religions and belief systems in our world, there is also alot of contradiction amongst them.
JW's, Mormons, Muslims, Judaism, etc; they all say something different. These belief systems contradict each other, but the one thing that has remained the same throughout the centuries is God and the word of God, the Bible. Sure, translations change from person to person (not everyone understands King James) but the Message (Christ) has not, nor will it ever. God doesn't change. He is "the same yesterday, today, and forever."

some very good answers.
some really REALLY depressing answers....
like Larry's answer is the exact point of the question really. its blind belief with no foundation, or even consistent with itself.
for example,
>>"(Most Jews still worship God as Jehovah God.) Jesus Christ, Jehovah God in the Old Testament, came to the Jews as their Messiah during New Testament times but most of them rejected Him."<<
100% lies. ALL jews worship God as 1. no division, no sub-divisions, no nothing. ONE absolute, without parts or separate persons.
Jesus was NOT the Jewish Messiah.
the Jewish Messiah was NEVER EVER EVER even SUPPOSED to be god incarnate. the whole premise of god incarnate is utterly absurd to Judaism.
>>"-”The Lord will provide.” Genesis 22:13-14 That is, provide a sacrifice."<<
this is an absurd, nonsensical inteperetation. Provide a sacrifice for... who? himself? that doesn't even make any sense. this "a sacrifice" thing is nonsense added on by people, the text doesn't even remotely imply that.
Anyway, I think most people intertwine their various beliefs and ignorances such that if one were proven false, it'd shake everything to peices.

God works in most all Churches, all of us people are not perfect, and our religions are not perfect too, God knows these things, God is working with many of us from different religions.
I't's all real as it sounds, there's no fairy tale, I felt God presences, he communicates, and teach me all my life through experiences, I had more lifes than cats, thanks to the Lord. All my life I seen Ghost, Spirits from Heaven and communicated with them. perhaps I should write a book or two. What people don't know or realize is God has full control, we aren't listening.
I see the whole picture, especially after all that has happen to me, these past few years, I understand why and what God has been trying to tell me, I wasn't listening, but now I am.
God bless

Or maybe we are all wrong. Very possible. I figure, there are two sides to the coin - theism and atheism. Now, since the beginning of theism, there have been thousands and thousands, possibly millions of ideas as to what god is, or the afterlife is, etc. In atheism, there is only one view- no god, although one can be an atheist and also believe in souls and ghosts etc. Probability wise, it is nearly impossible to be right as a theist, as you have a one in 100,000+ chance of being correct, however, an atheist has a considerably higher odds of being correct, esp. as science now seems to disprove many current religions and even theism as a whole. The logical disbelief in something unproven and unlikely seems just that, logical.

I don't think that everyone or anyone knows exactly, because in my religions case,God doesn't tell us everything. He only tells us what he thinks we need to know.I know that I am to serve him only, and have enough faith not to question him.It all comes down to faith..... Do I have enough faith to do what he says( in the Bible) or should I question him on everything, and when I find out the snake(devil) in the Garden of Eden was brown instead of black like I thought it was, then I am not going to serve him?????? I get irritated when people try to figure out everything about God and why does he allow so much suffering and why did he allow my house to be blown away by a tornado.....just relax take a deep breath and say "Thank you Lord" and have FAITH!!!!

I am still learning.
Actually most folk whose belief system is esoteric (Neo-Pagan, Satanism, Shamanism) and is learning based do not think they have all the answers. That is probably because we're very quickly confronted with how big the universe is and how tiny our understanding is.

My beliefs come from the instructions of God from the KJV bible. It is the truth. He is greater than I am and I will not second guess Him or questions His authority over me.
