Call the pound and take him back, tell them to get rid of the worms. You should not have to do it.

I wouldn't question it, I would take him to the vet and get a professional's opinion. Just because they are dead outside of his body, doesn't mean he still doesn't have them inside. Poor little puppy....they may have over-the-counter medicine at Petsmart, or even Walmart, if you can't afford a vet visit right now. I THINK worms go away permentantly when treated. My cats had worms, we took them to the vet, got medicine, and they never came back. That was about 3 years ago. Good luck, and congratulations on your new puppy!
P.S. My vet told me that crickets carry the parasite for worms....so if you see him going after one....stop him!

I also had a dog that had worms.Sometimes after the dog is treated for worms, it will pass them. The worms are dead after, but if you are really concerned take your dog to the vet. Worms can kill a dog.

If he has recently been dewormed, and had a bad case of worms, then you will see them passing through his stool, but they should be dead. You will need to have a repeat fecal exam, in about 2 weeks to make sure that the worming took.

Call the pound and ask them what kind of worms he had and what they used to treat them. Ask to bring him back and have him rechecked. Some worms will pass (dead) in the stools but you shouldn't have to figure out what they are or if they are dead.

Even if treated he will need to be treated again. Puppies should be dewormed at 2,4,6 & 8 weeks of age and then periodically after that. It is very common for puppies to have worms so don't panic.

I would belive that the pond wormed him. They are leaving his body because of the medicen. When you worm a dog, they usually poop them out. You can go to walmart and buy a wormer there. But don't do it for 2 weeks, just to be sure they all have left.

don't worry. animals naturally have worms. just take him to the vet and the vet will give you a prescirption for some dewormer. but you may have to be a bit carful with how many worms he has. if it gets too out of control it may be dangrous. now, i'm not saying ti will get out of hand, but just a heads up.
My dog had worms really badly, and to give her her dewormer medicine we stuck it in some cooked hotdogs winnes, dogs love 'em!
