Because they do cause drowsiness, if the pills were not labelled in this manner and something of a serious nature occured then the company producing these products will get a substantial law suit

I think it's all to do with companies covering themselves in the event of being sued. It is one of many examples of how ridiculous things have become.
For example, a nut filled bar of choclate, says on it, warning this product contains nuts.
An iron was bought by a friend of mine recently and the instruction book said in several places, do not iron clothes while they are still being worn.
Your question is just another example.

Because we live in a compensation culture. Its like a jar of peanut butter. On the label it says "contains nuts"-well I never! if these things aren't stated clearly, some **** would take the company to court for negligence or something. Sad, don't you think?

In reality? Because people are idiots and/or greedy.
Pracitcally, because of the law. If it wasn't, people could proberly take them, drive into a wall from drowsiness and get compensation and then some.

What worries me more is when they give in the list of possible side effects on headache tables - "may cause headaches!". Huh?!?

its as bad as on a pack of peanuts where it says in very big letters 'may contain nuts' sorry MAY do they really know whats in them are you actually eating nuts???

Because that is what it supposed to do and people try to do things that require them to be alert such as driving a car, operating machinery etc. They do take the sleeping pill, drive and get into an accident then sue the manufacture.

Lisa the rerason for the labels is because the can effect you the nex morning
depending on dosage you take so if you drive or ride be careful

to cover their own backs incase people do drive or opperate machinery - if they have an accident they could sue the company for alot of money and claim they didnt know the tablets would have that affect on them. on a bottle of my sons nightime cough medicine it says about not driving - and its a childrens medicine lol!

So you dont drive a car or do something dangerous that may cause you to fall a sleep because it may put you in danger if you fall a sleep,They want you to be safe using this product.
