Yes. It isn't off road like a wrangler or land rover, but for what it is it is good. It is cheaper than competitors, and has almost as much space. One downside is CVT, the acceleration times are horrible, but it does up the fuel economy by a fair bit. They're hoping with gas prices people will want the economy.

If you need cargo space though, hold out for patriot, the unique shape cuts out a bunch of space in trunk.

let's put it this way people. a real jeep is one that can take you into the backcountry, and back out. it used to be they all had to be able to complete the rubicon trail. the compass cannot do that. it is the same thing as an awd dodge calibre. it's a shame really. it seems to me jeep is "sissifying" their vehicles. everything from independant suspension, to r/t versions, to low car based crossovers. i'm disappointed. i don't even think they look all that good either, lol. so, i would have to say, NO, i don't like it at all. it makes me cringe to see the name Jeep on a compass. maybe i'm a purist, or just old fashioned, but i (and thousands of other people) like what jeep had going before the new millenium. well, happy jeeping (in a real jeep, that is)

I think of the Compass that I saw at the Detroit car show as a rebodied Chrysler PT cruser but with 4 wheel drive. It is the first Jeep to be built on a car chassis. For on road adventures some snow limited dirt it would be ok.

i agree with jeep man.... that compass is really a "car" i say! don't get me wrong its very nice, but maybe a different model would have been alot better! like something similar to the liberty or at least the same height lol!

i love the commercial, "bouncin in Jeeps on the new york streets" it's not bad if you're not using the Jeep like Jeeps were originally intended. offroad utility. it's "cute" for around town but not tough by any means. and i'm sure tough wasn't the image Jeep was going for

I think it's pretty hideous!! Liberty or Wrangler would be a better choice, if you want a REAL Jeep.

The Jeep "RESCUE" was the show car that led to the developement of the new Wrangler.

I'm seriously considering one, actually. I sat in one at the Orange County Car Show recently and I really liked it. I'll have to test drive it to make sure.

I don't like it. It does not look like a 'Jeep'.
