I know this must sound so ridiculous, however my sweet kitten does not eat that much at all.. but has a very full puffy belly. It's causing me to wonder.

Thanks.. I did bring her to the vet 4 days ago and she received a shot in which I was told was for de-worming. Perhaps it just takes a little while? The vet said she looked pretty healthy, but could not get the feline AIDS test yet because she's so young. i have to bring her back in another 2 weeks...
Boy! You people are fast!

Thank you "A Veterinarian".. I appreciate your response. As I said, I did bring her to the vet for the first time 4 days ago and she was given one shot (i was told it was for de-worming and I think one other thing too)... I need to bring her back in 2 more weeks. Is there perhaps something else wrong (other than worms).. or does it just take a bit for her adorable belly to go down? Anything else you can share would be great. I want to know ALL about raising my sweety (I've named her Molly)

Get your sweet sick kitty to the Vet, before she dies.
She either has a VERY BAD case of intestinal worms (which you can catch off of her). Or she has a bowel obstruction that could kill her.

IF you are positive about her age, then no....she cannot be pregnant.
Many people bring me "10 week old" kittens with big bellies, however, only to find out that she is really 5-6 months old, and pregnant.
If she's really only 8-10 weeks old, it's most likely one of these things:
1. Roundworms, which cause a lot of gas and a telltale big round belly. Easily diagnosed and treated by a DVM, but often fatal in kittens that young if left untreated.
2. Gas caused by misinformed people giving kittens regular (cow's) milk. Goat's milk is almost as bad. Easily rectified by discontinuing that silly practice. The only milk kittens should receive is CAT's milk (natural or replacer)....and she's way past the age when she needs even that.
3. A couple of different feline diseases, most notably one called FIP. Let's hope it's not that. :-(
If she hasn't been in for her first kitten visit yet, she's already past due. Even if she is current, please make an appointment for her first thing in the morning. If you let this continue, it will only make it more difficult (and costly to you) to correct whatever's wrong.
ETA: FIP=feline infectious peritonitis, caused by a virus, is NOT the same as feline infectious anemia (which is abbreviated FIA, and caused by a blood parasite believed to be transmitted by fleas.)
FeLV=feline leukemia virus and FIV=feline immunodeficiency virus should always the first test run (it's a combination test) at a new kitten visit, in addition to a fecal flotation for intestinal parasites.
In reply to asker's additional info:
1. She is NOT too young for an FeLV/FIV test!!! Is your DVM pretty old? (That used to be the case years ago, but is not now....and hasn't been for several years.) Kittens are supposed to be tested between 4-8 wks old, then again just before being spayed/neutered. Your DVM has apparently not been keeping up with journals, papers, and continuing education conferences. :-/
2. The 'shot' was not for worms. It would have been an oral medication....most likely a yellow colored liquid, and given with a syringe by mouth.
3. A fecal test should be done, whether she was dewormed or not. If it wasn't, how do they know she doesn't have coccidia or any of the other parasites kittens that age can have that routine dewormers have no effect on??!
If you have your receipt handy, please list for me what's on it (not prices...just what was done.) I'll be here for another few minutes. And....are you in the U.S.?

No a cat is not able to get pregnant until she is 4- 5 months old .
Take your kitty to a vet for a check up ,ASAP,
She could have a burden of worms ,
or she could have another problem
do not delay ,GO to your vet .
at this age worms can have a bad effect on a little cats development
I hope your kitten will be fine and healthy very soon .

Absolutely not! Like others said, could be worms. Take that baby to the vet immediately! She should be starting her shots by now and worming is part of the regimine vets give cats regardless of whether or not there is evidence of them.

It's not likely that she is pregnant but if she has never been dewormed, then she is probably wormy. Puppies and kittens are born with worms, so you need to deworm her. After the deworming her stomach should return to normal size, if not, seek veterinary help immediately. You need to take her to a vet to be dewormed and get her vaccinations, so talk to him/her about any other possiblilities. Over the counter meds are not usually strong enough to completely get rid of the worms.

Worms get her checked at the vet soon. A heavy load of worms in a young kitten can be fatal.

Not knocked up but it most likely has worms.
Take it to the vet tomorrow morning. Kittens need to get shots too just like dogs.
Good luck.

no a cat must go into heat before she can become pregnant. Worse case senario is she could have FIP. Probably just instestinal parasites which may take a couple dewormings to get rid of them.
