I'm tryin' to lose 40lbs. I'm 5''7 190 for a month I change the way I eat. Like I eat whole wheat bread, pasta, etc. Friuts and veggies and I don't eat after 8pm. And I lose 4lbs in 3weeks without working out. I just started going to the YMCA. First I get on the treadmill for 60 mins., lift 8lbs weights doing 5 reps.( with my arms). Get on the bike rower for 10 mins. And last get on the stair stepper for 10 mins. If I keep this up can I lose 40lbs by Feb.

Your off to a great start. Read labels and watch your carbs...you would be surprised how fast you can loose weight if you limit yourself to 2-3 carbs per meal (15g = 1 carb) and watch your salt intake (too much salt = water weight). We have found also that some fruits are not diet friendly and should only be eaten once in a while. Look for whole grain breads and cereals, they take more energy to move through you and make you feel more satisfied. Your work out sounds really good! Best of luck to you!

Yes this sounds really good! The cardio (treadmill, bike rower, stair stepper) are the ones that will help you to lose weight faster, good for you! Be sure you have good shoes on too. Are you drinking alot of water? I like the YMCA this is a good place for "normal people" and they have a great atmosphere, good job!

VERY GOOD!!!

You should be able to do it by Feb.

At the rate you're working out though you might be building more muscle, IE you'll get small and not lose as much weight. In two years I lost 60lb but my body fat went from 23% to 17%. My trainer told me not to worry so much about weight as % of body fat a fit woman would have about 21-24 percent and a man 14-17 percent.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :)

Lifting weights for 5 reps will not do anything for you. And to be productive you must do a total body workout (strength), not just arms. To be productive you have to do btw 8-16 reps and at least two sets for each muscle group.

You go girl. I would add some protein to your diet and a multi vitamin.
