It's up to them how to spend the stamps, but if they buy expensive things, they will get less food. At least steak is nutritious. It's not processed or sweetened.
I think if you get food stamps or any other kind of aid, you should be forced to take a class on how to create a budget and how to manage your money. Actually, I think that should be a required course taught in every high school in America.

People CAN buy steak with food stamps. But if you only get $100 a month in stamps, you're probably not going to be able to afford to eat for the last week of the month.

Food is food. Why should it matter what kind of food. Food stamps come with a balance, there is a limit. I don't see anything wrong with people buying what they like to eat, on the Government. Food stamps are not free, like everyone thinks. There is allot of time that goes into filling out the paperwork, and the interview. Those people work hard to feed their family.

Should those people only be paid $2.15 per hour to serve you your steak at the restaurant down the street?
Sounds like you are not on food stamps. Why don't you count your blessings, and quit looking in other people's grocery carts?!

food stamps should be use for each of the food groups and not abuse it with one type of food.
like hamburger meat or small steak is ok or any other kind of meat as long as you use it for the milk and bread and butter. but like anything else you can't use food stamps on everything.

some of these answers are really sad. alot of people do abuse the system but not all of them. there are hard working people that still can not make ends meat(ha- no pun intended)
As for the origional question, of course, steak is healthy, better than buying junk food and anymore it is not anymore expensive than other meats let alone junk food

Sure. Anything they want. But the number of food stamps: limited. If you eat steak, you scrimp somewhere else.

Sure, why not, after all we feed the people in the State prisons, I'm talking about the big boys, you know the ones that are in government and do a (little) sin, why should the people out side be any different

and you think they should not be? If they can eat it, they can buy it. It's up to them to make the amount of stamps last for the time period until they get the next batch. Your judging without walking a mile in their shoes.
