I think the average online poker player will be a bit more afraid now since the US govt is prohibiting financial institutions from processing online gambling bets. The more seasoned veteran online players will not be phased by this recent turn of events and find other ways to continue to play online.

No. Poker players in the United States can still play poker online. There are many companies that transfer money online...like Neteller for instance.
You can play online poker even if you are from the United States at http://www.pokercs.com/_4507124875a58f0f535133a092db74fe/
I think their software is excellent.

I don't think so. People tend not to fear the government when it passes stupid laws. Like you said there's a ton of sites still accepting players and now they are offering more reloads and freerolls to pick up the players they lost. Hell the frotn page of a site like UPB has never been more active http://www.ultimatepokerbankroll.com/ ever since the legislation. If they claim they are getting record numbers of email, and other sites are swamped as well its hard to imagine people are too afraid to play.
