Yes. We can. Keep politicians out of it, however.

The politicians should give us the mission (i.e. what they want accomplished). They should give us the money to buy the arms we need to do the job. We will do the mission analysis, tool up accordingly, and do the job.

Military people like to get the job done with the minimum of fuss. I was a cook in the military, and I was included in the planning as much as the combat lads were. Can your galley produce the energy foods for the lads to take out when they are fighting, and can your galley provide the comfort foods when they come back (big beef stew, beer, bacon sandwiches).

The guys got their stews, chips and my own, individually prepared, burgers (not packeted sh*te). That is what we British have (or had), and is typical of good military planning. Read Liddell-Hart, Guderian and Rommel.

I've been out of the military for five years, however, I'd still say, as did Churchill - Give us the tools and we will do the job.

Do we think the military can provide security for what?

Yes, men and women with guns, ammo, grenades, and other bombs can be MOST defenseive.

Now, if the leadership shuts up and let them do their jobs? Then Yes, but in general the leadership will fail, and the soldiers will screw it up.
