ARE pets a good thing? What should I ask? Is this what you meant? In your case, study is paramount. But pets keep you in touch with a living thing, give pleasure, demand care and attention, are fun, offer love. And give you a very serious responsibility. If you are irresponsible, or have little time, don't get a pet...they deserve better. Right now, crack those books.

Are pet's a good thing? a resounding yes. They're company loyalty, responciablity, entertainment & in a way good medicine.
I used to get sick all the time with anemia landing me in the hospital several times needing blood transfusions. until it depressed me which of course got me sicker. I honestly didn't care about myself enough to take better care of myself. Well Since I've had my 2 cat's I'm determined not to let that happen anymore because my girls need me. I have not be hospitalized in 5 years thanks to them.
