If you are rarely late you don't need an excuse most likely they will not even mention it. If they do mention it simply say Sorry, I was running a little late.
If you are regularly late search for the excuses websites.

leave a jacket at your desk the night before-- then it looks like you are there in the morning already. If someone asks where you were, say you were getting ____ from your car, using the bathroom etc. It wont matter because it will look like you are there. Good luck!

The flashing lights broke on a school bus causing mayhem on the road, everybody was afraid to pass it even though the driver was waiving them on, absolute chaos, I thought I'd never get here, it was really dangerous, (apply look of panic, dispare, then change look to one of deep concern)

I had a flat tire....actually that doesn't even work at my job. They expect you to drive in on the rim and have it fixed while working...so maybe, my alarm didn't go off because the electricity went off but only use that if it's been storming.

aliens attacked my bed and then i couldn't get into the bathroom because of a wild monkey who wouldn't stop eating my bananas for breakfast so i had to stop at panera and get some food. after that i ran a yellow light cuz the elephant told me to.then i had to talk to the police. then since they were so nice we went out for lunch. AND THATS WHY IM LATE!
