Nowadays we’re hearing things like, “Islam is The religion of peace and tolerance. It promotes respect for others and …” The truth however, is that Islam is very clear on the issue of violence towards non-Muslims. This can be seen in Ayat Al Sayf, which says: ‘Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush.’ Furthermore, it can be shown that any verses relating to tolerance of others e.g. 2:256 are Meccan verses, written in times of weakness. Those such as Ayat Al Sayf, are Medinan; written in times of strength. Even Islamic analysts say that all verses of tolerance were abolished (Mansooka) with Ayat Al Sayf. The second part of this verse ‘But if they repent and establish worship’ means if they become muslim leave them alone! That doesn’t help either. So how can Islam possibly claim to be a religion of peace when it clearly orders the murder of non-muslims?

Well, unfortunately, you're right: Islam is not a religion of peace, but they don't mind lying a little bit about it (Taqiyya).

The ayat al sayf referese to a time when a treaty of non-violence had be broken by the pagans. The Muslims were under attack and God allowed them to fight back after the sacred month.

Verse 2:256...Let there be no compulsion in Religion...was revealed for a reason. New converts were leaving their families because the families would not convert. Young men were leaving there old parents. Parents were leaving there kids becuase the families would not convert to Islam. This is not allowed in Islam. You are to respect your parents and take care of them when they are old, regardless of their religion. This verse came as a result of this. God said that there is no compultion in religion. You shouldn't leave your parents just becuase they don't understand the truth of Islam.

Funny, the answerers ask you to read (quote) the whole thing. They then add the bit abbout taking peace loving enemies to a place of safety - telling us that it shows how fair and reasonable they are. They don't mention that once in that place of safety, they are to be instructed in the mohommedan faith and then either converted or killed.

They just don't seem to be able to accept that many people have their own gods and goddesses and have no interest whatsoever in the ramblings and ravings of yet another so-called "holy book".

Come on mohommedans, we don't want your religion in the west. We already have enough of our own. Every single one claims to be the only purveyor of truth and every one claims to be the direct word of god. they can't all be right, but what makes you so certain that yours is the right one? Whatever your answer, all the others will claim exactly the same for their religion, with exactly the same justification. The only real difference is that they don't decide to murder anyone who disagrees. Is that why you think your religion is best? It gives all the added enjoyment of the inquisition whan everybody else has abandoned it as barbaric, brutal and pointless.

The Verse u are pointing to has a context which is that there was a war goign on then and muslims were in low numbers. So God said dont be scared kill the pagans where ever u find them during battle.

and Why did u not Quote the very next verse?
"If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge."
[Al-Qur’an 9:6]

The Qur’an not only says that a Mushriq seeking asylum during the battle should be granted refuge, but also that he should be escorted to a secure place. In the present international scenario, even a kind, peace-loving army General, during a battle, may let the enemy soldiers go free, if they want peace. But which army General will ever tell his soldiers, that if the enemy soldiers want peace during a battle, don’t just let them go free, but also escort them to a place of security?

The first verse is mentioning the rules of war it says during the battle. The second verse makes it clear that it is stating the rules of War.

How low can u get to try to proove that islam is wrong its just un ethical and pathetic. You obviously got your information from bias sources and did not study the religion for yourself.

you mustn't stereotype human beings love, it won't get you very far in life. If each and every physique stereotyped Christians based on the strikes of Hitler, the place might we be now? Hitler exchange into interior the Western international as you call it and he commited genocide. And he claimed to be a Christian. The Israeli best Minister stated that he won't stop till the Palestines are long previous. And he's a Zionist. as quickly as returned, it is genocide. The Hutus of Rwanda tried to wipe out the Tutsi race in Rwanda and that they claimed to be Christians. as quickly as returned, this could be a fantastic occasion of genocide. So if we judged religions on the strikes of people CLAIMING to be somewhat of that faith, the place might we be? i'm sorry you have won hatemail yet with your variety of negativity, what are you able to assume?in case you do unlike Islam, it is your organization, yet do no longer attempt and unfold your hatred in this section by way of fact that is not mandatory. because it states interior the Qu'ran, 109:6, TO YOU BE YOUR faith AND TO ME MY faith. via the way, it exchange into Ghandi who stated "a look ahead to a watch turns the full international blind." And he exchange right into a Hindu.

Over-all the Koran teaches peace and tolerance. But like any holy book it was written by men, and like it or not we are fickle and without integrity (generally)

So of course there is going to be stuff like that in the Koran same as there is stuff like that in the bible.

The thing that annoys me is that no religion is perfect. But the ideas behind them are pretty damn good, you know 'love each other' all that stuff...That sounds like a pretty good idea to me, follow the golden rule and you'll be fine, no need to worry about all the other ****.

Cause that's all it is S-H-I-T! The point is not what the details say, the details were filled in by priests and monks and humans. Forget that! Just focus on the whole loving each other, not killing part and you shouldn't have to worry about the rest.

People like you make me laugh you have no knowledge of Islam and Muslims so you jump on the pathetic fools bandwagon with your rants.
You have misused the Ayats words as with all biblical books anyone can make of it what he or she wants.

Any different than Christian Pat Robertson talking about we need to assassinate President Chavez of Venezuela, and Hezbollah leaders. Or, all these hell, fire, and brimstone preachers talking about repent, change to Christianity or burn in hell. No difference.
