I've never reasked a question but I really wanted to hear from others on this one. If you have a moment, please take a peek and share your opinion. I especially want to hear from agnostics, atheists and freethinkers, but all opinions are welcome. Thanks.

Mimics of the society in which we live. The links in the original question clarify this.

I don't think we were made in God's image. I think we made God in our image. Religion explains things that science hasn't learned yet. God used to be thought responsible for the weather and people used to pray daily to God for good weather. Now we know what causes the weather and most educated people no longer pray to God for good weather. Of course there are some believers who refuse to let go of outdated beliefs...

We ARE God's "special critters". All the other animals on Earth God spoke into existence, but He formed the first human with his own hands out of the dirt, and breathed His own breath into him. Humans are alone among animals for our language (animals, even chimps can't do more than grunt and make signal sounds, and their "sign language" is like that of a baby), our ability to write, create architecture, create art, write symphonies, and consciously recognize the Creator who gave us these gifts. (Animals never make little churches in the woods.) God put us on this Earth to be stewards and to care for the animals and the earth that He put under our charge.
I do not believe the lie of evolution, because there are thousands of scientific facts that deny it and point to the fact that the Earth is young and intelligently created. In fact, all evidence points to the conclusion that humans used to be bigger, smarter, and lived a lot longer, and we have since gotten smaller, stupider, and don't live as long. That's the reverse of evolution! But it does support the Second Law of Thermodynamics - things tend toward disorder, not order.

oh -I saw this from you last time and I didnt answer that question then--human beings tend to be cameleon in nature-like changing to accomodate their environment. Yet inate even in a child raised by animals is a soul-a need for God-it can be masked by many things that would keep one away from the living God of the bible-yet it will never be at restShalom until that soul personally finds God-Jeremiah said 29th chapter "When you seek me with all your heart, ye shall find me." forgetting about me and seeking truth for you would be a good start-shalom

Mimics of what? There are no gods. We are animals. Much of what we do in society is learned behavior. Much of it is instinctual, but without reinforcement by fellow humans, a lot that is instinctual can be unlearned.

Genesis 1:26-27 (New International Version)

"Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

there is a piece of God in us all, obviously, since we were made by God. However, yes we are all special as well because you were made different from everyone else. There is no other like you, and God did that for a reason. He made you how you are because of his purpose for you. How beautiful is that?? :]

We're His children created by Him in His image. I like your description too though..."critters"...it's cute. In fact, we're often referred to as little sheep in the bible so yes, we are God's critters. You are most wise!!

You'll find my non-theistic response. However, it strikes me that you've asked a relatively non-theistic question.
