I think I recognized someone from an answer they gave but do not want to make a fool of myself.

if you have answered one of the questions they posted, you could go into - your answers and look at the profile? Mail them and if you are wrong - you are not making a fool of yourself, you are only asking a question!

Stalk their answers. Answer one of their questions with a question and see if they add addtional details.
