I have an Apple and have used Dells extensively. I love my Mac, I'm able to do anything and everything I want to do (photoshop, audio recording, create really nice looking DVDs, all sorts of other fun things) with my apple. One of the things I love about Apple is the software that comes standard with every computer. Things like garageband (audio editing software), iDVD, iPhoto, and many others are very powerful tools that are free when you buy a mac.

Macs also aren't prone to spyware/virus infections the way PCs are. In fact, one of the reasons I finally switched to a Mac was my frustration with keeping my computer "healthy". I got sick of having to maintain my computer, and I wanted something that just works. My mac fit this bill perfectly.

Also, even though I know you said not to mention this, the screen on my Macbook Pro is VERY sharp, it makes pictures, movies, and basically everything look much nicer than any PC notebook screen I've ever seen.

(An aside: new intel-based Macs can also run windows using a program called "Boot Camp", a free download from the Apple website.)

That being said, Macs are much more expensive than Dells. You can get a lot of computer for not much money when buying Dell, or PC in general. To be honest, a lot of what you're paying for in a Mac is the chic factor. Macs are hip, and Apple knows this. This isn't to say they aren't worth the money, I feel the money I spent on my Mac was well worth it.

I hope this helps. feel free to send me a message if you have any more questions.

I assume you are looking for a PC or laptop.

The main difference is OS (operating system). Dell (or other PC vendors) operate on Windows, while Apple has its own operating system (MacOS). Windows is more popular, there are more software, games, extensions etc. I am not sure, but I think Windows software is cheaper.

I would recommend Intel based hardware, with Windows. Dell is a good choice in this area; easier to find software, easier to get help (much more people knows Windows than MacOS)

I really choose dell. I am using dell right now. yesterday my computer was not working and they stayed on the phone with me for 3 hours until my computer was working. they even offered me a new one! it wasnt a very good quality new one but they still offered. they are a very well organized company and deserve as much credit as they get. i know someone with an apple computer (high speed) and dell's dial up is faster!

I have not had a Dell but a friend of mine swears by them. Seemingly the service is great ,24/7 hrs, if you call them with a problem they will stay on the phone and walk you through how to correct it. At least that is what she says.

Apple is so easy you won't even NEED tech support. The higher price is worth the time and expense you could pay by periodically having to remove the viruses from your PC as opposed to a Mac.

I prefer Dell. The windows OS has a lot of compatibility and when Dell has a system on sale, it is often a good value.
