Absolutely not! Go for it! In today's world, you have to be mobile. I didn't get my driver's license until I was way past the normal age of 16. When I got married and had kids, I was always stuck at home, and had to depend on everyone to haul me around. That changed when my husband got sick and I had no way to get to the hospital to see him. I made up my mind then and there that I was going to get my driver's license. I took three lessons and passed the test on the first try. If I can do it, anyone can, and I was a real chicken. My first "destination" driving solo was to drive around the block. Gradually, I overcame my fears and have been driving ever since, even on the highway to go out of town. So good luck, dear. I know you'll make it.

no not all !
I had a provisional licence at 17 and passed my test 1st time at 38.
I had lots of lessons but never really needed to drive, even had a couple of cars but i wasnt bothered about it. when I took my exam i apologised to the examineer for being so old !! He said hes passed people in their 60's and seventies, usually women whose husbands had died and they found that they were totally dependant on friends or family to go anywhere.
Its not silly ,its amazing and you will love it,
I decided to drive an automatic car cos its sooo easy and also take my test in a nearby town that had lots of roundabouts and an easy car park for the test centre.
if you find it hard do it in an automatic!!
Its stop and go with the pedals. dont believe people when they warn you off it , lots of cars are auto.
i drive a big V8 grand cherokee and need it cos i live in the wilds
Good luck

Keep calm and go for it.
If you are nervous buy some Kalms herbal tablet in a health shop of chemist and take a couple an hour before your lesson.
it may stop you panicking. I have been driving for years and its the best thing I ever achieved for my independence.
Good Luck
