Hi just set the time ,it works by a movable cam which revolves from the centre each time the watch senses movement so as long as it is being worn it will self wind with the slightest variations from static Regards Paul

do you mean the ones that self wind? my dad has a rolex like that and he said the way it works is that when your move your hand (the one with the watch) the motion from your hand winds the watch.

the only problem is that if you have a job that doesnt require much movement then your watch may stop telling time because it needs to be rewound.

my dad says you should shake it for like 1 minute streight before you go to bed so it is still working in the morning.

The one I had years ago, inside the back is a Half Moon shaped weight that spin as you move your wist. It can move in both directions, but, is geared in a way it wind the watch in one direction regardless of which way it spin. All you have to do is wear it. Sometimes you may need to manually wind it if you not wear it for a day or not move your wrists much.
