If you haven't visited DC in a while, you may want to do the tourist thing again. The museums are always opening new exhibits and several new memorials have been dedicated in the past few years.

If that's not your thing, visit Baltimore. It's Halloween, so see the Edgar Allen Poe House and then visit his gravesite. Then, go down to the Fells Point neighborhood and go on the Authentic Fells Point Ghostwalk. (http://www.preservationsociety.com/FPwalkingtour2005ghostwalk.html). Baltimore also has a wonderful railroad museum, a fantastic aquarium, and there's always something going on in the Inner Harbor area.

Another option is Annapolis. Visit the Naval Academy and dine on crabcakes overlooking the water.

Do you like roller coasters? Go to Six Flags America, a family park by day, a Fright Fest at night! http://www.sixflags.com/parks/america/ShowsAndEvents/index.html

Helix
1430 Rhode Island Avenue, NW
Washington D.C. 20006
202-462-9001

Los Angeles has the Sky Bar, Miami has the Rose Bar, but now DC has a gauntlet of new swanky hotel bars. While Hollywood types strike deals at the Sky Bar and tanned models rust at the Rose Bar. Helix has all the glam, but it's basically a neighborhood bar that looks like George Jeston's living room.

I was looking for stuff before, I live 8 miles from DC. I don't really go to DC anymore.
Spy Museum can get pretty crowded sometimes but maybe not this time of year.
Smithsonian's are nice museums but not really exciting & they can also have too many little kids.
Six flags? just might not be right for this time of year since it is starting to get colder, but considerable.
National Zoo? I wouldn't consider it too exciting but it is nice - http://nationalzoo.si.edu/default.cfm
I liked Union Station but would not consider it very exciting (unless you have more credit cards than fingers & you love to shop) http://www.unionstationdc.com/

Here's some stuff if you want to go out on the town or find some good restaurants, bars, etc...

Washington DC is awesome. There is so much to do. Did you got to the Smithsonian Institute? It is an all day thing if you want to make it that way. It could be 'exciting', depending upon what you think is exciting.

Well you can see the white house. That is what I did this year. It was kind of boring because there was protesters. Go see BET. That is in washington D.C. Be careful, you get scared fast there. I was there and it was 85 degrees outside and a guy was sitting at a bus stop with a winter coat on zipped all the way up. We were at a red light and was very nervous, so be careful. Search their .com to see more things.

Check out the Washington National Cathedral if you have never seen it before. Also, perhaps a quick drive to Baltimore would be fun.

oh plenty to do...since we are nearing halloween a lot of clubs & reataurants are doing their halloween themed parties.

you can go to the spy museum which has a restuarant as well. very, very cool place. you learn some interesting things. i advise purchasing tickets in advance, like now, if your interested because weekends are usually busy.

go to shopping district like georgetown, downtown DC area around (connecticut avenue, wisconsin avenue), pentagon city mall, tysons corner (more stores than you can imagine). u street is nice as well- has a couple of boutiques that are cool.

restaurants galore - want to splurge and go for the gusto try oceanaire in dc. its near a subway line. the food is all fresh seafood. try nage restaurant on rhode island avenue inside the courtyard marriott; food is absolutely delicious and affordable. ben's chili bowl (on u street also) is always a treat that's one of D.C.'s famous places frequented by celebs like Bill Cosby, Mike Tyson, Oprah Winfrey. its a family oriented restaurant as well, so if you want to bring kids that's cool.

you get to venture into Maryland - stop over in Silver Spring downtown area (right off of georgia avenue). they call area "silver sprung" because it has absolutely flourished over the past couple of years. plenty of shopping, restaurants, theatre, the discovery channel's headquarters are in the area as well; I'm not sure if yoc can go on a tour, but I'm almost positive, the place is so huge.

i hope you enjoy you're visit.
