The commandment in Exodus 20:8-11 contains the three elements of a ruler's official seal:
Name: The Lord thy God
Title: Creator
Jurisdiction: Heaven and Earth
That commandment is not a very popular one, because it really separates people who take things like that seriously from the mainstream habits of the rest of the world.

Mt 12:45 speaks of a "worse"-end involving "seven" spirits.
Revelation notably involves "seven spirits": 1:4;3:1;4:5;5:6.
So Revelation allegory portrays "worse"-end state of man.
Nothing worse than many thinking johnny law is the divine.
For "worst" does not even occur at all in New Testament.
But abolition and the "blotting out" of law does occur in NT.
The living God of the living: Grace, isn't God of the dead.
However if Law believed, Law becomes the living God.
So Heb speaks of it being both a fall, and a fearful thing,
to fall into the (plural)hands of the living God on high: Law.
Gal 5:4 clarifies it's a fall from Grace, to turn back to Law.
John turned, back to Law "behind him" in Rev 1:10,12.
So the living God mentioned in Rev 7:2 is the Law.
Rev 14:1 speaks of those 12 x 12,000 sealed in Rev 7:2;
On Mt Sion Hebrews are told to come unto in Heb 12:22.
Such is heavenly Jerusalem, city of the living God: Law.
Ezekiel 9:4 speaks of marking such men in Jerusalem.
The seal is the name of the slain Lamb's Father: Law.
For only the Law imputes sin, demands a sacrifice for sin.
(God never desired sacrifice for sin, nor took pleasure in it)
Law is in the forehead of the 144,000 sealed in Rev 14:1.
It's a spoof on johnny law envisioning himself enthroned.
It's written by Paul: signs it with his token in every epistle.
Such is thrice noted at the end of 1Cor 16; Col 4; 2Thes 3.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

It is the seal of approval from God. It marks us as His. The angel in Rev 7:2 had the seal of the living God to give to all those who are servants of God. The Levites had a turban with a gold plate on it at the front (forehead) on it was a seal saying Holy to the Lord.
Revelation 19 vs 16 tells us that Jesus had on His robe and thigh He had His name written "King of Kings and Lord of Lords"
I see all of these to be connected and similar.I believe that God is proud of us and marks us as ours with a seal that protects us too.

"Seal" often refers to a signet ring used to press its images into wax melted on a document. The resulting imprint implied authenticity and ownership and protected the contents. In this case, the mark is the name of God.
