You are probably coughing in an effort to get rid of the toxins.
Try drinking freshly squeezed orange juice it's rich in vitamin C, and your body will be short of that as a result of previous smoking.

Yes, it is normal. It seemed to be that I was coughing up stuff from my lungs - and Better out than In! Louise Hay says that coughing represents change, and if you want it to stop sooner, everytime you cough, smile and say "I am changing for the better!".

Congratulations - I know how hard it can be. I will tell you that for me anyway, I felt great after 6 or 8 weeks. The coughing stopped, the craving stopped - I really just forgot all about it.

Peace!

Congratulations on quitting!!!

It's absolutely normal to cough, especially if you were a heavy smoker. All that accumulated tar is being expelled. Before I quit I did have a minimal cough but it got much worse right after I quit and then completely disappeared.

You've done great. Keep up the good work. It will get tougher around 5-6 months. Always be on guard. You're only one cigarette away from being a smoker again.

Yes, that's normal. I quit 3 years ago and I coughed too. It's your body trying to expel the junk in there. Be sure you drink alot of water and also it might be some (oooey) nasal drip as your nose is clearing too and it might be draining down the back of your throat so maybe get a mild nose spray to keep it hydrated so there is no infection there. Keep up the good work there and you will be fine--it starts going away in 3 months or so.

Yes, because the smoke and tar has made the cilia which is on the lungs collapse, so now that there isn't smoke the cilia is starting to move again and this is causing you to cough.

Its completely normal - your body is getting rid of all the gunk in your lungs. It will only last a few weeks and you will feel much better for it.
