OBVIOUSLY THE LAST ANSWER WAS FROM A DORK WANNA BE WHO NEVER KILLED ANYTHING BUT A LIE
TO TAKE A DEER TO THE BUTCHER IS A WASTE
DOUBT HE EVEN KNOWS WHAT FIELD DRESSING MEANS
THAT SAID:
FIRST THING TO DO IS MAKE A SMALL CUT JUST BELOW THE BREAST BONE
USE A GUT HOOH KNIFE AND "UNZIP" THE STOMACH CAVITY DOWN FROM THERE AND ALONG ONE SIDE OF HIS HAPPY ORGAN
USE A GAME SAW AND CUT THRU THE PELVIC BONE O BOTH SIDES OF THE ORGAN
TAKE A SHARP KNIFE AND CUT THRU THE HIDE AND .... YES...AROUND THE POOPER
ROLL OVER THE DEER AND LET ALL THE GUTS FALL OUT
ROLL BACK OVER AND CUT OUT THE DIAPHRAGM AND SLIT ALL THE WAY UP THE NECK (IF U R NOT GOING TO MOUNT IT)
GRAB THE WIND PIPE AND PULL DOWM HARD
CUT IT OFF AT THE TOP MOST PLACE U CAN REACH
COOL THE MEAT IF U CAN AS FAST AS U CAN BY PACKING THE CAVITY WITH ICE OR SNOW
UANG THE CARCASS AND SKIN IT AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO ALLOW THE MEAT TO COOL FAST
IF U R GONNA SAVE THE HEAD STAOP SLITTING UP THE CAVITY AT THE THIRD RIB AND CUT AROUND THE ANIMAL AND PULL THE SKIN BACK TOWARDS THE HRAD
WHEN U GET TO THE BASE OF THE HEAD CUT IT OFF WITH AN AXE OR BONE SAW
THEN GO BACK AND CUT ALL THE WAY UP THE NECK AND REMOVE THE WINDPIPE SO IT DOES NOT SPOIL THE MEAT
HOPE THIS SICKENS ALL THE WANNA BE'S AND WISH THEY COULDS
TO MANT DORKS TRYING TO GIVE ADVICE THAT DONT HAVE A CLUE AND CERTAINLY HAVE NEVER DONE IT
PROLLY NEVER WILL
HOPE THAT P O - ED A FEW THAT HAVE TROUBLE PEELING THE SKIN OFF A PIECE OF KENTUKY FRIED CHICKEN

Field dressing a deer isn't stinky unless you gut shoot it. That person must have had bad shot placement. Anyhow, shoot it in the heart behind the shoulder. Once you track it and find it, do this. roll it's head uphill if you can. start at the base of the gut. Get your knife to get just the skin and not the whole shaft deep into the guts. Cut the skin up to the ribs. Make sure you have latex gloves on so you don't get lyme disease. Reach in and pull out the guts. If you liked science class you will love this. Anyhow, some folks keep kidney, liver, and heart. I didn't except to give away. Once you have the basic guts out of the way, then cut the intestine at the bottom so you can cut out the butthole. You will want to break the pelvis. I like to put my knifeon it and smack it with a rock to bust it. Some folks like to use a hatchet. Once the bone is broken, then cut out the sides of the butthole and pull out the remaining small piece of intestine. Some people don't cut it befor they cut the butt out. Just personal preference. Some folks like to cut the gut cavity all the way to the throat of the deer to remove the lungs and heart. I only do this if it is very warm so the meat doesn't spoil. Otherwise, I just reach up and pull out the stuff and you may want to cut the top to get it all out. Take a spare water bottle and wash your hands over the gut cavity. then roll the deer on it's side to "wash" it out. Hope this helps. email me with any questions you might have.

The easiest way I have found:
1. Start by cutting around the scrotum or ****....then make a but down over the pelvis, cutting just deep enough to get through the skin, cut all the way down and AROUND the butt hole.....use a good shape knife or a hatchet to split the pelvis...
2. Once that is done, go back to the top of the cut and work you way up....cutting just deep enough to get through the skin...
When you get to the sternum, use a good sharp knife and cut through it all the way up to the neck....spread the ribs apart....
The final step is to grab the windpipe and pull back....you might have to cut around the diaphram....and just pull...everything should just pull out right allong with the windpipe....
Very quick and easy.....Hope I didn't forget anything....It is a lot easier to show someone the try and type how its done....

place the deer on its back, head up slightly up hill, cut the gentitals off. Use a gut hook to open the cavity, reach up inside th remove heart and lungs, pull all down hill, cutting the diaphragm and then the ureter. Split the Pelvic bone with a small hatchet.. and remove anus, hang and rinse thoroughly woth cold water..

most info is good.but here are my variations. step on one hind leg, raise the other, make a cut thru hide in groin area, insert blade just far enough to cut hide up to the rib cage.this helps to not cut hair and get it every where.cut diagram loose, reach up and grab windpipe cut it loose, pull out heart and lungs.pinch off bladder cut and toss away.grab intestine at groin, pull back to move poop away, cut it,then use a stick to push poop out of butt hole.now take knife and cut around butt hole, pull it out.this leaves pelvic bone intact. the reason for stopping at ribs and not cutting pelvis is when you drag the deer out of the woods.it doesn't get filled up with dirt and leaves and the back legs do not flop all over the place.tie your rope around the 2 front feet then a half hitch around neck so feet are tight against neck.raising the head and feet up while dragging makes it easyer.I aim behind the shoulder, half way up! lung shots drop them fast with little wasted meat.

ya know i love all the answears and they are all right but they forgot to mention one special note....LEAVE THE BALLS INTACT AND ON THE DEER.......if the game warden stops you and looks at your deer and sees the ball sack has been removed you could be in deep poo poo....i know i know its got horns....try telling that to the dec officer...
