I am on immunosuppression due to a bi-lateral lung transplant (result of Cystic Fibrosis) so I wash my hands a lot or use a product such as Purell or Germ-X if I'm not around soap/water.
1) Before eating or preparing food.
2) After using the restroom, blowing my nose, coughing, etc.
3) After handling raw meats or raw eggs.
4) Any time I return to my desk at work from areas such as the copier/printer room, break room, using the steps (due to the handrail), opening any doors, meeting rooms, etc.
5) When returning to my car after shopping.
6) After I pick up anything I've dropped on the floor, picked up trash, or touched a trash can.
7) After coming in from outside, especially if I've been weeding or doing anything in the garden/flower beds.
8) After shaking hands with someone.
9) Any time I scratch or cut myself.
10) After leaving any sort of medical facility/lab.
11) Any time I've been around someone who is sick or appears to be sick.
12) If it's been a while since I've washed them.
I also wear a face mask, similar to those worn by dentists/doctors, during cold/flu seasons, in crowds or when around people who are or may be sick. Since having my transplant, a little over two years ago, I've not ad any sort of medical issues such as colds, flu, etc. because I'm very cognizant of my surroundings and wash my hands a lot.
Good luck with your speech.

After visiting the bathroom, before handling food of any kind, upon entering my home after running errands, etc., or any time I don't feel clean.
What I concentrate on most is after touching money, grocery store carts, etc. I also never touch the door handles on public restrooms since so many people don't wash their hands. I always open the door with a paper towel over my hand.
The one thing I NEVER do is to put my purse on the kitchen counter. It has been determined that the bottom of our purses are filthy! I clean mine often.

After going to the washroom, several times while cooking, and being a student nurse, about a thousand times during a shift, washing them after nearly everything you do.
How you wash your hands is another question.... you should be sure to wash thoroughly scrubbing between fingers, on the backs of your hands, nails, thumbs, etc. and be sure to let the water run from your wrists down to remove soap & dirt. And always dry thoroughly to prevent getting breakouts between your fingers.
Hope it helps *s*

After using the bathroom, before cooking anything, or just whenever they feel dirty. About 3-4 times a day.
