Remembrance and respect.

A lot of unknowing people put virtual stones at the Find a Grave website thinking the stone is some kind of insult to the deceased, when actually it's a sign of respect.

When a person visits a Jewish grave, he will place a stone on the tombstone, or the marble covering of the grave, to show that he was there. It is a way of showing that the dead person has not been forgotten.

its customary when Jews visit graves that they leave a stone as a sign that they were their.

they last longer than flowers ;)

It's called a tomb stone.... Or maybe the Jews thought they could stone a dead body. Or maybe the dead guy was a stoner? LOL! Too many possibilities.
