Let me elaborate...I thought that Muslims were frobidden to create or have pictures representing people, not just Allah. Is this not so?

I am muslim my self and its just a rumor amungst muslims that pictures are forbidden in Islam.Worshipping Pictures and idols is which is mentioned in the Quran but there is absolutly no mention of makeing pictures.Well not that i know of.
But you have a great point there.

Well first of all there is no avatar to represent muslims, and second of who says that all avatars are true representations of the person who created them? I mean shouldnt there be some ugly avatars then????

Muslims are people, why shouldn't they have people as their avatars? I am a Muslim (alhamdulillah) but I don't want to show my avatar. Why are you asking anyways? ( I'm not saying it in a mean way)

You are right some scholars say it is a sin to create pictures (take photo) with human faces in it.

these things have nothing to do with islam, it is more habits inhireted from the old days.
