Best pumpkin ale and Oktoberfest beer: Brooklyn Brewery. It's not that the flavours of the beers produced by other breweries are bad, but the balance is off. Brooklyn seems to eschew the American tendencies of over-hopping and over-carbonating. He's just got it down. Seriously, this guy (Garrett Oliver) has blown away nearly every other mass-produced American beer I've had. Also, he wrote a really neat book about pairing real beer with real food.

Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale! ... It's kind of hard to find. Check out a liquor store, or specialty foods store-- Like World Market or Fresh Market. --It's delicious!

Don't know about the best, but Saranac makes a good Pumpkin Ale. Had it last night . . . mmm.
