Jim, What is this hang-up that you have with Atheists ? Anyone who is reasonably intelligent knows that an Atheist is like any other person. The only difference is that an Atheist does not believe in any God. Otherwise, their feelings are just like yours.
Do you really think that you have to have religious superstition in order to feel love or pain. If a person is deeply in love but the one he's in love with leaves him for another, do you think he has to go to church to feel the pain ?
Do you really feel superior because you're superstitious ? Don't say you're not superstitious because any belief in witches, spooks, gods, fairies, angels, zombies, and all other supernaturals is just plain superstition.

Caught on an emotional jag today, Sean? The emotion questions suggest a disconnect between human beings and being an atheist. My conjecture is that atheists are more fully in contact with their humanity and emotions than are religious people, because they have to filter their emotions through what is acceptable to their God.

Yes, of course. They can also feel the hights of passion and love. Sometimes hurt is the aftertaste, but it's worth it.

I have yet to be seriously emotionally hurt by someone, but I imagine when my grandmother dies I will be devastated.
