The rest of the world would win, just because of sheer numbers if nothing else. America are having enough trouble with Iraq and Afghanistan. Imagine them trying to do the same with China, India, Indonisia, Japan, most of Africa and South America.
They have an incredible military in terms of equipment but a prolonged war would shatter their economy which funds those incredible 'toys'.

I have heard predictions from the 1950s through to now, that
World War 3 will break out in the Middle East, It will be over Oil and the Americans will start it.
Though the Americans in my opinion generally are opinionated, outspoken in their attitude to diplomacy in the world.
I am Pro America and the American people are great, as a lot of the worlds population, but America need to look inward to themselves and their Alie's and open up politically and socially to win hearts and minds at home as well as abroad.
God Bless America, UK. and the rest of the world.

Sadly after the Vietnam war the aura of invicibility has returned. If the world declared war on America America would have to face 100 million soldiers while at the most American could muster say 35 million. It would be long and bloody but people are soft these days. People cant handle World War 2 like conflicts anymore.

Let's be honest now. If the whole world fought against America, the rest of the world would win. America has the biggest Military, by far, but if you totalled up the military of every other nation on the planet, it would be bigger. The Americans would be overwhelmed, they would be attacked from all sides and would eventually lose (Nobody give me an alamo quote now. I'm thinking in a practical sense.)
Notice it's only Americans who say they'd win. They have to think this through. They are very powerful, but a little cocky on this front, I think.

In total war, even in a conventional sense, mean total industries contrinbuting to the war effort. We beat the Iraqi army, (twice), at the time they were the 4th largest army in the world. Our economy was not devoted to total war at the time. With our industrial might, i doubt whether the entire world would be able to face us down.
Our superiority, in technology, air power, training, carrier task forces, sub fleet, the latest non-nuclear bunker busters, etc, etc., would put us ahead of the pack.
The causes, i suppose would be our pre-emptive strike against the muslims, russians, and chinese.....no other scenario comes to mind.

*Chuckles* Dude,,,,,its taken you almost 7 years to clue in this has been happening since 9/11?
Go find a copy of "Soldier of Fortune" magaine and look at the current "SitRep"- they list monthly every war thats taking place on this planet. Last count was over 40- and right now, we're technically in WW 3, it just happens to be a low intensity conflict at this time.
But the stakes have gone up, now that North Korea has gone nuclear, and Iran would LOVE to go nuclear.
Nobody wins, we're all gonna die, we're all gonna lose, and Christ is going to come back.

The only way it would remain non-nuclear is if the USA won it in a couple of days. Which probably couldn't happen unless we went nuclear first. We would crush them and there would be no rebuilding program like WWII we'd bomb them into the stone age and leave them there.

Don't get your hopes up. There are 3 big guys in the world; the USA, Russia and China. We might bicker and not support each other on certain issues but we need each other and know well that we cannot let any of the little guys mess things up for us.

your question is not as far fetched as you may think. american politics is run for the benifit of the american big companies. many of these companies are sending farmers of our country broke they are taking over our busnesses then sending then of shore to countries like india where the people work for next to nothing putt our people out of work. supermarkets owned by america dont stock products made in our country. there is a growing dislike of the way america is trying to dominate the world through their busness practice. many of us refuse to support these american busnesses now. if this is the way america treated the arab states its no wonder they are striking back and if they continue the same way with other countries well it wont be long before they strike back aswell
