Farting adds character. Your friends and you are building character and learning more about each other (e.g. the familiar scent of someone's who-knows-what). Have fun, but just don't get carried away or someone might pass out.

Yes it is rude to fart in front of anyone. Continue to use your puckering muscles until you are free to let go. No one wants to smell an unpleasant odour. On the other hand its kind of a shame what society has done to farting, it being a normal body function.

It's rude no matter who you're around. I was not even allowed to fart in front of family.

It's rude in front of anyone, and embarassing, too, I would think. Sometimes it just can't be helped, but those who do it deliberately to get laughs, or whatever, are being very rude. Your friends may forgive you, but they might never forget....

Hello!!! It IS rude in front of friends and family...
But friends and family allow us more leeway in our behavior without walking away because there is already an established relationship.

It's common courtesy. Plus, your friends know you better. But personally, I think it's rude in front of anyone.

well yeah it is even in front of your friends only if you haven't known the long it only not rude when you do it in front of your family members or in front of your friends that you've known all your life or for a really long time

Because people don't realize that farting is a normal daily function I guess. That, and, It embarrasses the person that does not know you.
