anything I can do to help alleviate his carsickness? Sometimes it's just necessary to drive him somewhere, so "no car rides" isn't a solution.

Try taking him on short (to the end of the block and back) rides and gradually increase the time. You might ask the vet if there is something he can recommend for you to give him. Some dogs outgrow the carsickness and some don't. I have heard that some people give their dogs Dramamine but I would not do it without the vets ok as you might give him too much which could kill him.

My dog got carsick for awhile and the vet gave us some medicine for it. I forget what it was called. Talk to your vet and he can get you some stuff.

Dramamine was prescribed for our cat. Ask your vet if it's good for dogs too. Or he may have an alternative sedative

By the way, although our cat became drowsy, it did not completely stop the diarrhea or continuous mewing. I think the dosage may have been too low.

Don't allow him to eat or drink anything one hour prior to taking a trip. If it is a small puppy and you are afraid of his sugar dropping, give him a teaspoon of kayo syrup before the trip.

yes, you can go to your vet and ask him to give you a prescription for a light tranquilizer (like acepromazine i think it's called), and that will help your puppy to relax and not throw up during the car ride.
