Why do you think that people sometimes forget about the Love of God?

God, in today's society, is dead. Oh, people still pray but they really don't mean it. It's a "me" world out there and there is no room for God.

I think people forget about the love of God because of "religion". For me I think I lately have always been worrying about what NOT to do, what to avoid, that I end up doing those things I don't want to do..or thinking those things I don't want to do.

That's probably why God says in Phillipians 4:8 :

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

If we think about good things and keeps our hearts (our minds) on good things, then our actions will follow that which is in the heart. If we are always thinking about the bad things then we might actually commit those things in action. Although in heart, they are still sin.

I almost feel like the ten commandments are an example of what NOT to do..And the new testament focuses on what TO do.

"Thou shalt not kill"...versus "Love your enemies"..I think there are still verses in the OT that are presented in the same way as the second one--"Love they neighbor.." but I mean to just say that focusing on the right loving way to do things is more effective than focusing on the bad things.

When people are facing troubles in their lives, the first they do is blame God. God does not test or try anyone. People need to stop and look at all the creation around them and realize that God really cares for them. That's why we need to be praying to God on a regular basis to help us get through our problems.

Becuase evryone is so caght up in other people and they don't really think about it they are thinking about work and stress and all their troubles that they forget the meaning of life and the differance of how they live it and how they want to live it but most of the time they just take the easy way out and don't even think about it until later in life when it is already too late.

We humans have a nasty tendency to pay more attention to what we see than to truths we know, even though we would never deny these truths verbally. (Of course we are denying these truths in our actions, but most of us just don't think of that.) We do not see God physically, so He unfortunately gets relegated to "whatever time I have leftover with absolutely nothing else to do." Our relationship with Him suffers, of course, and we wonder why He doesn't love us anymore.

Think about it for a moment: if your best friend, spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend, or parent paid as much attention to you and spent as much time with you as you do with God, would you feel loved by that person? Yeah, ouch. Do you really think He feels loved by you? If you spent as much time and attention on that person as you do with God, would that person be able to show you how much he or she loves you?

I personally think people forget about God's love because they do not take time with Him. When they don't feel it, they forget to show it to others. Christianity becomes an unattractive set of rules when we leave God's love out of the equation -- even if we only do it in our actions, not in our words, and even if it happens by neglect.

I guess because they feel unloved...maybe some people have ridiculed them. Sometimes I forget that He loves me and that He died for me. I am not sure why.

Its like everything else when you have it all the time you tend too take it for granted. Unfortunately it takes something bad too happen for us to remember sometimes.
