Of course it is .. .but, we could always turn the US into a fundamentalist theocracy and then we could actually make it illegal.

It absolutely okay. Atheism is NOT a disease. Now, for people with drug abuse, alcoholism, or aids, it isn't okay. It directly affects the child, and the kid has no choice about the birth defects it gets from such parents. Children of atheists have the decision to believe in a higher deity if they want to when they get older. The only thing I suggest is not telling the child there is not a higher person. Leave the possibility open for them to decide.

I think it is ok, because you don't have to believe in G-d to raise a good child, you only have to believe in good values

OF CORSE. You're not destined to go to hell just because your parents are (sorry that sounds mean) sometimes even childeren can bring their parents to christ.
