It absolutely okay. Atheism is NOT a disease. Now, for people with drug abuse, alcoholism, or aids, it isn't okay. It directly affects the child, and the kid has no choice about the birth defects it gets from such parents. Children of atheists have the decision to believe in a higher deity if they want to when they get older. The only thing I suggest is not telling the child there is not a higher person. Leave the possibility open for them to decide.
