OLGA's SUGAR COOKIES:
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture. Chill dough for 1 to 2 hours.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheets or parchment paper. Sprinkle with colored sugar or leave plain to frost later.
Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.

Chocolate Crinkles
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups flour
1 2/3 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate squares, melted
1 box powdered sugar (for rolling cookies)
Cream shortning, sugar, vanilla.
Beat in eggs, then chocolate.
In another bowl sift 2 cup flour, baking powder, salt:mix well.
Add this alternately with milk to shortning mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Chill for 2 hours.
Form into one-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar.
Place on greased cookie sheet 2-3 inches apart.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for approx. 10 minutes for soft cookies, 13 for more firm/hard.
Cool slightly before removing from cookie sheet, then cool on wire racks.
This is one of my favorites! If you do it right you will get the soft chewy texture that you are looking for. Good Luck!

Mama's Soft Sugar Cookies
Soft sugar cookies with butter and sour cream and vanilla.
INGREDIENTS:
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, sift before measuring
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla*
1/2 cup sour cream
PREPARATION:
Into a bowl, sift together the sifted flour, baking soda, and salt. In a mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla with an electric mixer. Beat for 2 minutes. Add sour cream and half of the sifted dry ingredients; beat 1 minute.
Stir in remaining dry ingredients with a wooden spoon. Divide dough in half and roll each portion out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Place cookies on greased cookie sheets; bake at 400° for 8 to 10 minutes. Store soft sugar cookies in an airtight container.
Makes about 6 dozen soft sugar cookies.
*Replace part of the vanilla

i, but the dough from saftway, then cut BIG pieses, and turn the oven on at 350, take it out early, and keep looking every 10 mins, let it be a little doughy, and rite there is the best cookie

i have a good one take two sticks of butter soft & two cups of sugar i package of vinilla pudding mix two eggs about 1/2 cup of milk & flower untill batter dont stick to your hand then roll in the pulm of your hand into a ball sprinkle sugar over them & bake
