Ok....so for my AP english class I have to lead a class discussion over chapters 20-23 of Jane Eyre. We're supposed to go over..."basic comprehension, clarification, inference and synthesis, analysis, personal opinion/experience, prediction, and key passages." If you have any suggestions or creative ideas on how to present the material from the chapters in regards to the areas listed please tell me! Games, activities, charts, etc. would be appreciated. Also, if we play a song (any song) that can relate to a portion of chapters 20-23, we can receive extra credit...so song ideas would be great! Thanks :)

let's see...
there are lots of goodies in those chapters for prediction, inference, opinion...
who is this stranger mason and why is he so dangerous to mr rochester?
why does jane's aunt want to see her before she dies? who is this uncle jane hasnever heard of? will she find him? will he find her?
when mr rochester presents the "hypothetical" dilemma to jane, you can ask the class... does this man have the right to go against convention to regenerate, have another chance at life?you can infer that this error is related to the mysterious woman in the top floor, and ask which conventions would be ignored.
is mr rochester's planned marriage to miss ingram how he hopes to do this? does his relationship with his proposed bride seem to fit the criteria or is he implying that he may have another bride in mind? he says jane must go, she says she must stay, what does he really want? he decides so easily to marry a woman he doesn't really care for, but hesitates to ask jane, whom he loves, to marry him. in fact he doesn't do it until she defies convention in addressing him. why? why does he ask for god's pardon when he proposes to the woman he loves and is accepted?
why is jane the only one who doesn't know what's going on?

you could have a sort of lateral game, where you come up with lots of possible answers to these questions and predict which ones are more likely, based on the characters and what we know of them.

i can't think of any songs that fit, off hand, but i'll give it some thought...
