If it is just one leg it could be caused from something in your lower back. There is a nerve in your lower back that if pinched or strained just so will cause your leg to feel like it's breaking everytime you step down and throb when you don't even walk. Usually if it is from this, however, the pain is concentrated down more of the side of your leg. Either way you should talk to your doctor as soon as you can

If you have not injured it and it hurts so bad, I think that you should have a doctor look at it.
