Just tell your teacher the truth. Most of the time I doubt they will take excuses for not completing homework.

It also depends on the reason why you're not finishing your homework. Are you not doing your homework because you don't feel like it or is there a specific reason as to why? If so then just use that as your excuse.

The one that will work - "I am sorry Mr(Ms, Mrs, etc) but we had a death in the family and I have been quite distracts - I didn't get my homework done, but can I have more time to make it up." That will work - but don't try this more than once - or you'll be the death in the family. It is the atomic bomb of failing to do your homework excuses.

As a teacher, I've heard many excuses. I know when a student comes to me and tells me something serious such as having family problems or an illness I will give an extension. However, if the same student tells me they have these problems all the time I will investigate.

It doesnt matter what the best excuse is. You can only use it once or twice at the most and eventually they will be on to you. You can only hide for so long. Better to face up to why you don't want to do it and go talk to a school counselor about it.

Just do your work and you wont have to worry about it. Im sure it wont take but 30 minutes at the most. What are you going to do when you go to college? Oh wait, you wont get into college being lazy. Just do it, then you wont have to do it later, and you wont get a bad grade for having it turned in late.

You locked the book in the car and didn't find the key until 5 minutes before you had to go to school.

The family car broke down on a trip out of town and you all did not get back until very late.

One I was given was that he did the homework but his cat sat on it with a dirty **** and he had to tear the page out. I found that so amusing that I accepted it: a cat owner tells me that it could actually happen. It would be better though if you actually did your homework.
