perhaps it is the ability to do math, if you can not do basic mathematics, your still a "parasite on your mother" so you can be aborted at any time.

Perhaps like in some African countries, once a year take all the old, blind, and handicapped out on a ship, the ship comes back empty, but never docked anywhere.

It's not about being a living being, it's about being a person under the law.

Bear in mind that the significance of the "rites of passage" of many ancient civilizations, where children passed into adulthood meant they became full members of the tribe and consequently it was no longer legal for their parents to kill them.

But to answer your question, I don't think we'll ever see higher or even basic math used as a qualifier of worth as a person. You have to bear in mind that there are 10 types of people in this world: People who understand binary numbers, and people who don't.
