I quite agree with your attitude. It is particularly irksome for those of us who live in hot countries regarded by the world and his wife as holiday resorts to see tourists from cruise ships wandering around our towns in a state of undress: men stripped to the waste and women wearing skimpy bikinis. It is a contemptuous way to treat a host country.

No you are not being unreasonable however as we live in a country where we have the right to dress how we want we can't control how people dress.
However, if you were to visit say a cathedral or church and didn't dress appropriately you would expect to be frowned upon or looked at with disrespect. Same goes for people who visit our country and dress in a manner that is not respected. They should expect to deal with the consequences and not cry like a baby over political correctness!

People should respect the dressing habits and customs or dress codes of other countries. Just because a person is a tourist doesn't give that person the right to dress innapropriately. I would say you are not being unreasonable. It only shows your respect towards others and expect the same treatment. Nothing unfair in that I suppose.

No... However, people will look at people in your country and see how they dress and follow suite. Now if there is a sign posted then that is down right disrespectful. Some people may not know or think it is disrespectful... example : I saw a gentleman wear a baseball hat turned backwards in church... I wanted to say something so bad but it wasn't my place. People in certain leadership positions should have addressed the question and took care of the problem.

In my country, it is expected that for Church visits women wear a dress/skirt below the knee level (no shorts or jeans or even pants), don't go with bear legs (wear pantyhose) and that they cover their head (scarf, hat or anything reasonable). Men are expected to wear long pants (no shorts) and no hats of nay kind. The churches that get a lot of visitors have these rules posted at the entrance. Those who don't adhere are politely asked to go outside and change the outfit. I think it is reasonable. You can't expect people to know, but you can exect them to respect it once they are informed of the rules.
We wear all sorts of clothes in every day life. There are even topless beaches. But Church is Church, it is different, you shouldn't exersise all your "freedoms" in there.
To answer your question - it is not unreasonable to expect. But it is even better to facilitate it by informing people, rather than getting disapointed at them for sincerely not understanding it or not knowing it.

Depends on where your country is. I'm from the US, and if you are too, I say no to your question. You cannot expect visitors to your country to conform to the customs if the people of that country refuse to conform to the customs themselves.

Not at all, people should show respect no matter what country you are in. All over Europe they ask you to cover up and i think that courtesy should be extended to where you are?

Yes, you are. And they will get Legal Aid money to sue you as well. And all because of the EU convention on "Human Rights"!

That's why our Western culture is free. People can come and choose how to dress. Other countries aren't as free and have choices.
