I have heard that you cannot eat refrozen meats. I made sloppy joes, froze the leftovers, defrosted them to make a snack one day, then refroze the rest. Can I defrost the meat again and eat it?

No food should ever be re-frozen. Thawing foods, especially hazardous foods like meat and tomatoes (sauces), leaves it very open to bacterial growth. Freezing doesn't kill bacteria and cooking only kills some at high temps. You can eat the re-frozen food if you want, but lets put it this way, The health department says that no restaurant or institution can.

Yes, absolutely. Its the same with any meat, except fish. Fish is so delicate it rots quickly. The old adage about not being able to defrost meat and re-freeze it, is an old wives tale. I have refrozen meat since I knew how to cook, and I was 7 years old. My mother, and grandmother have always refroze meat, and we never got sick or died due to refrozen, redefrosted meat. Smell it though, after you defrost it. If it smells like meat, eat it, if it smells like it's been sitting in the sewer, throw it away. Simple as that! Enjoy your food, never be afraid of it. Good cooking to you.

Any bacteria will die, when you cook or freeze food. This is a fact. Common sense says how can I live in a freezer? How can I live in a 400 degree oven? I cant, being frozen to death, or cooked to death is what will happen to me. Im not sorry for the sarcasm, people just crack me up with their silly fears of meat. The government, and political ads have caused the fear. Dont worry, cook, and be happy. I do! LOL

Yes. There is nothing wrong with it. But makesure it is defrosted all the way because it could make you sick. Slopppy joes sound good right now. Peace out. Bye. Luv/Kodi

I wouldn't eat it! When you cook something and freeze it; do it in individual portions next time, that way you only defrost and heat up what you need. Peace!
