Not as long as the whole of either religion tolerates extremists.

Christians have been living in peace for centuries in many Muslim nations that were controlled by religious and pious Muslims. How else can you explain millions of Christians in the middle east and elsewhere not only surviving but flourishing while Islam was the dominant force in the entire Middle East.

Remember also that when Spain was ruled by Muslims, Christians, Jews and Muslims lived in peace with each other. However, when Spain was over-run by the Christian rulers, only then Muslims and Jews were both forced out under pain of death and torture unless they converted to Christianity. So much so that the Spannish inquisition is recorded in history as a dark time in the history of Spain.

It is clearly shown that Muslim rulers have at least tolerated, and in most cases allowed the Jewish and Christian communities to thrive to the point that the oldest churches and synagogues are in lands ruled by the Muslims for centuries. Whereas lands ruled by Christians have few if any mosques or synagogue that go back too far into the past.

So, it is possible for all faiths to live in peace, if we accept that the Lord Most High has given people the opportunity to practice their faiths as they see fit and let no man play God.

Quran 10:99 says "IF Allah willed it, ALL NATIONS would be Muslim. Would you THEN USE FORCE?" (my caps).

Quran 2:157 says "No forcing is allowed in the matters of faith."

The only exception to this generic rule is when a group tries to force their faith on others. Such people may be forced to accept Islam and be forced to be tolerant rather than intolerant.

Do not judge Islam by the actions of Saudi Arabia or Taliban which are recently created entities and do not represent the TRUE ISLAM of the Prophet very well, in spite of the noise they make that they do follow the Prophet.

I hope this makes sense.

Yes, examples are Egypt and Palestine.

I agree there may be some hidden tensions that end up exploding to the surface every now and then, but overall, moderate Muslims and Christians can live with each other peacefully, as long as none of them transgresses over the other.

By minding our own business. The search for enlightenment is a personal one and there are many paths to it. We, as individuals, must really understand that it makes no difference in my life what you do in yours. Religion belongs in the heart, in the home and in the places of worship - and that is it.

There should be a code of ethics that the world agrees to - and we should put things in the private sphere that belong there and not wave them about like a red cape in front of the bull of society. Honestly, if we could all just agree on 1 law - You are not to hurt or cause harm to another - then we could put all this other silly nonsense behind us. You live your life. If you harm another your actions come under questioning. If it is determined that you caused harm, you make restitution. End. We don't need to know about the sex life, spiritual life, the PRIVATE life of any individual and we don't need to share the details of ours. Basic common courtesy - the ultimate in the golden rule. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

Peace!

I personally watch Christiany and Islam coexisting peacefully here in my own city - among the educated and religious of us. We all believe we pray to the same large power, which we may call something other than another religion might, but we accept the fact that we are being called to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Truth is absolute right. It is not relative. So if these religions hold on to their own Truths, they shut each other out. And since Christians and Muslims have their own Truths and are taught to love, then they will be convicted to win people to their Truths. They will be forced to reach to one another.

A compromise between truths is impossible. Dogmatically, they can't. But they can try to live in harmony without any wars. That's the challenge in evangelizing -winning souls through peace, wisdom and love.

Christians should support Muslims insteading of supporting Jews and waging wars like in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Secondly instead of bluntly rejecting and isulting each other religions , we should listen to each other

as nothing can be achieved in making horrifying caricreatures of Prohpet Muhammad (PBUH) , which will rise anger in Muslim world and than u guy laughing on us.

It all depends on both parties but christians shouldnt do insult like they do.

U will never find a Muslim horrifying Jesus (PBUH)
isnt
?

take care

It's fundamentally impossible because they are two competing religions that are so opposed to one another in many ways that either one or the other in the end will prevail.

It's impossible if they keep struggling for political power. It's possible if they just devote themselves to an exclusively religious activity, AND only with their own people, without trying to mess with each other's customers... I mean, followers.
