First of all, are officers in the Marines actually issued that awesome sword?

Second of all, I know what the insignia looks like but where does it go? I've the NCO's with theirs on the upper sleeve but I haven't seen the same for commissioned officers..

Marine officers are not issued anything, we buy all our uniforms, insignias, etc... the officer's sword is called the Mameluke.

Our rank insignia is worn on the collars of our camouflage uniform and other service uniforms. On our Class A and dress blue uniforms it is worn on our shoulders, on the epaulets.

Ok well I think I can answer the first part of the question. I used to be married to a Marine and I am pretty sure that you have to pay for the sword yourself. From what I saw it is pretty expensive actually.
