I want to get a gift certificate for my parents to a nice restaurant. Not too expensive ($15 a plate would be good). Nothing too fancy or casual. It would be great if it was a unique or interesting place. My mom likes seafood but my dad doesnt and my dad likes steak but my mom doesnt so a place that has combo steak and fish options might work. They both like Mexican and Italian. Wine is a must. Im flexible with the location. it can be in surrounding areas of denver.
Please give me all the ideas you have and average price, too!
Thank you!

yes i know about Casa Bonita and that is not at all the kind of place i want. It has great atmosphere for kids but its not all that great for two adults and the food is about equal to Taco Bell.

My favorite place that is romantic, fun, fancy but not too stuffy is the Melting Pot. Its a fondue restaurant and they have great food. A standard meal comes with a cheese course, salads, meats and a dessert. They serve wine and your parents will be able to get a "dinner for two" that includes both meats and seafood. There is one location in Littleton and one in Louisville. The price probably would be $50 per couple and including wine it might be closer to $75 so it might be more than you were hoping to spend.

Other ideas are the Vesta Dipping Grill or Samba Room downtown. Both have great food and atmosphere but nothing too stuffy. Maggianos is great for an Italian chain. Very great food and its about $15 a plate.

Buenos Aires is a fantastic town; it's an astonishing city that appears a bit like Europe, but having an edgy Latin American angle and if you wish to visit this city then have a look with hotelbye . El Puerto Madero is just a place effectively visited. It served as the key port of Buenos Aires throughout the late 19th century but know is turned into buildings that might be applied as residences, restaurants, stores and different firms and to provide this project a little sparkle, all roads in the region were named following women. Strolling through the Puerto Madero is a good way to invest a pleasing afternoon the same as visiting El Obelisco. El Obelisco was integrated 1936 to observe the 400th anniversary of the city founding and now could be a must-see place from Buenos Aires.

Try Mel's in Cherry Creek North. It's between 2nd and 3rd on Fillmore.

They have a great chef and a varied menu. The atmosphere is lively but sophisticated and they have a piano player on Fridays and Saturdays.
I think it will fit both of your parents' tastes and it's neither Mexican nor Italian.

The only thing is that prices are more around 20$ than 15$.. anyways.. Check it out at www.melsbarandgrill.com

My favorite places are Little India, Il Fornaio, Wynkoop Brewery (www.wynkoop.com) (surprisingly good food--there's also a fun comedy show in the basement called Impulse Theater--http://www.impulsetheater.com/), and the Denver Chophouse (great all-around place with a diverse steak/seafood menu, good wine menu). You might get them a gift certificate from Buenos Aires Grill (www.bapizza.com). It's new, and the food is great. The place is beautiful, and they have live music many nights. (It's owned by the same Argentinian folks who run Buenos Aires Pizzeria and gelateria.)

Other places: Samba Room (www.sambaroom.net), Panzano (www.panzana-denver.com), Vesta Dipping Grill (www.vestagrill.com; unique dining experience), Palomino (you can sign up for discounts from their website--www.palomino.com), Cafe Bisque (www.cafebisque.com; in Lakewood, a Denver suburb), Cafe Brazil (www.cafebrazildenver.com; charming). You can't go wrong with any of these places (great food, good wine lists). For upscale dining (at least upscale for Denver), try Strings, Brooks Steakhouse, or Barolo Grill.

(Le Central is a low- to -medium priced French restaurant--kind of cute inside and out, but mediocre food. The Yard House is primarily a huge beer and martini spot located in a mall. Good food, but loud and happy hour like.)

The Yardhouse at the Colorado Mills. It's sort of a fancy sports bar. The food is a bit pricey, but between 4 and 6 most of the appetizers are half price. They have over 100 beers on tap and they do specialty martinis...but the food is fabulous. They do steak and fish, and chicken. Look them up on line.

WEST DENVER. If you have kids, put Casa Bonita on your list of places to visit! The expressions of awe and excitement will start as soon as you pull up in front of the place, with its huge Aztec emperor statue and 85-foot pink tower topped with a golden dome. Inside, the focus is on entertainment. Cliff divers, strolling mariachis, flame jugglers, and arcade games keep youngsters (and their parents) enthralled for at least two or three hours. Meals include standard tacos and burritos, followed by tasty sopaipillas. But most folks don't come here for food – they come for the show!

I think Le Central (corner of 8th and Lincoln), is probably just what you're looking for. My friend and I went there for lunch and had 2 entrees, a glass of wine and a dessert for under $25 (not including tip). The food -- affordable French -- is excellent, and portions are generous. They have a comprehensive wine list, with a good variety by the glass. It's a very funky/romantic little place, and I saw people in all manner of styles, casual to dressy. I bet they'd love it!

I recommend Texas Road Grill it is fun and the food there is to die for!! The food is pretty decently priced epecially with how much you get! A Good Mexican place is On the Border. Its mexican, the food there is great, plus they serve alcohol! As far as price it is almost like Chili's or red lobster. You can dress up or wear casual! If you are thinking on a gift card. I know my bank Washington Mutual is starting to sell online Mastercard gift card. So they can use it where ever Mastercard is accepted! Good Luck!

Try Gumbos' in LoDo. The Southern fare includes four different kinds of spicy, meat-filled gumbo as well as tender catfish, crawfish etouffee, pork tenderloin and rainbow trout stuffed with shrimp. I ate there recently and was pleasantly surprised. Spicy dishes (if they like Mexican this is a good fit).
