Granted, it's not as popular as many other betting sports., but there are a lot of die hard fans out there. Go to an OTB parlor and you will hear people who know the " stats" on the drivers, horses & trainers,
and bet accordingly. Most of these fans of the sport are old-timers who grew up during a time when horse racing was the only game in town. They learned the gargon of the sport, and how to read and interpret the racing forms, and more importantly, had the patience to do both. Unfortunately, many of today's generation prefer quick money. Who wants to study all that goblygook in the Racing Form and then wait a whole 15 minutes between races for results? It's a lot easier to push buttons on a slot machine, or scratch-off instant lottery tickets; no reading or studying stats. Instant feedback!
Horse racing management across the country know this, and in order to keep the tracks alive, are offering casino gaming at their tracks; a "Racino".
Anyway, back to your original question, the answer is," Yes, they do", but in some parts of the country more than others, and where OTB is offered.

I love harness racing and it is my preferred betting venue. Unfortunately, there is not much going on in my state (California) other than the state fair site and the horses (and drivers) are vastly inferior to a big time track like The Meadowlands. I have to go to Vegas to get my fill or settle for a few races at an off-track betting fracility.

Harness racing is the best!!!! I go at least every Monday to Harrington or Dover, whichever is running. I also make trips to Freehold,Meadowlands, Pocono, Ocean, and now Chester. It's a great sport. The horses, the people, the atmosphere.

Absolutely ................. NOT !!!! How can anyone bet those 1-dimensional donkeys ? Only in harness racing can a horse be claimed for $25k, then a week later, be in the money in a $50k claiming race.
Milkshaking goes on all the time in that "sport". I live in NJ & both Freehold & Meadowlands have had many suspensions because of milkshaking.

That's the funniest thing that has happened to me today because right now I am watching harness racing from balmoral Park, the #3 Sportsfancy won and that's her third in a row.

Yes, I attend in California at Cal Expo and some of our better "One dimensional donkeys" have gone on to compete at some fairly high levels at the Meadowlands.
