Well, thorughout my life, I have been drinking tap water and I consider its safe with no metals such as faculet water or bacteria water. I mean I have heard this question: "Which is better bottled or tap water?" all the time, many news articles supports tap water when its cheap, safer, better, and nearest to get around. I drink bottled water bottle but mainly the Kirkland type doesn't have any flavor to it, so I dont have to worry about the bacteria and metals in there.
Its my opinion.

In my home town, tap water is fine, I prefer it to bottled water, but in any other area I drank tap water from, it tasted awful, it wasn't cold enough, etc.
Bacteria... well, one can find it anywhere, tap water, even bottled water, so many sources, but in the case you were telling about, I think it's better to be a little safe, so bottled water definitely!

I don't drink it and I'm not a transplant patient. If I were I probably would only bathe in it. I can't see a transplant recipient taking chances with anything they put in their bodies. I would probably go organic, grain feed animals the whole wholesome way. I don't think I'd chance water or any other food.

Tap water is convenient, but it's dangerous to your health no matter what your situation. Tap water has chlorine and fluoride and other toxic chemicals added to it. Also, the filtering process is insufficient and fails to remove all sorts of sh*t including trace amounts of medications taken by previous users such as birth control!
As for bottled water, unless it is clearly labeled "spring water," bottled water is just tap water that has been filtered extra.

Considerring that they are imunocompromised, as you aptly put it, tap water would probably be a very bad idea. Especially if you can't be sure of how clean the tap actually is. It would probably be better to boil water first.
